A new chapter

For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Doug Litchfield has looked after Huntsville from a bright room above Main Street. That care isn’t going anywhere. Same street, same phone number, your records right where you left them. Now there’s a new dentist beside him and a new name on the door.

Our story

A practice with deep roots

White pines on the Canadian Shield grow slowly. They find a crack in the granite, root in and hold on through every season. Good dental care grows the same way: years of check-ups, honest advice and a dentist who knows your name.

Dr. Litchfield has spent more than 25 years putting down those roots in Huntsville. As Huntsville Smiles Dentistry, the practice keeps growing from the same ground. He’s staying on through the transition, working alongside our new dentist, so nobody’s care misses a beat.

  1. 1987Dr. Litchfield graduates in dentistry from the University of Western Ontario.
  2. 2000He begins caring for Huntsville families on Main Street.
  3. 2026The practice becomes Huntsville Smiles Dentistry, with Dr. Litchfield staying on through the transition.
  4. NextA new dentist carries the work forward. Same street, same care.

For nervous patients

Still water

If the dentist makes your heart race, you’re far from alone, and you never have to apologise for it. Tell us, and we’ll slow everything down.

  • We explain each step before we take it
  • Raise a hand and we stop, any time
  • Breaks whenever you need them
  • We numb patiently, and check before we begin

At a loon’s pace: in for four, hold for four, out for six. Tap again to stop.

Here for the season?

Muskoka has a way of finding the weak spot in a tooth: a corn cob at a barbecue, a stray paddle, a hard landing on the ice. If something goes wrong while you’re here, call us. You don’t need to be a regular patient.

  • Knocked-out adult toothHold it by the crown, keep it in milk, and call right away. Minutes matter.
  • Broken tooth or lost fillingRinse gently, save any pieces, and call us for the next opening.
  • Swelling that affects breathing or swallowingGo straight to Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
